About Me

I'm Uma, an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, alumni @theksociety, and crazy neuroscience nerd.

I’ve spent the past couple years exploring optogenetics, which is the optic stimulation of neuron populations, and other techniques in the realm of Systems Neuroscience to learn how neurons communicate with each other.

I'm super passionate about understanding the unknown, specifically, uncovering the mysteries of the brain. My interests mainly lie in the realm of memory and metacognition.

What I'm doing right now**:**

• Studying Human Biology, Molecular Biology, and Mathematics at the University of Toronto
• Researching the mechanistic relations of networks leading to the manifestations of Alzheimer’s Disease symptoms

My past projects:

• Hackathon Project: Using Temporal Inference to combat opioid addiction relapse
• AI Hackathon: Using AI Robots for C-Sections
• Consulting challenge for e-commerce company Instacart to improve the customer experience
• Working on a consulting challenge for the United Nations to increase the number of women in the digital economy by 2026
• Working on a Moonshot Project to harness energy from earthquakes using piezoelectric devices
• Working on Bactograph @ Rice University
